Checklist

I. Prepare to register.

  • Check the registration deadlines.

    Priority registration deadline: July 22
    Regular registration deadline: October 7

  • Discuss all options with your students and confirm the number that will attend the conference.
  • Take a look at the Country—Committees Matrix and pick your top 10 country choices. Detailed descriptions of this year’s exciting and innovative committee simulations are available in the committees section. Although certain Specialized Agencies and Crisis Committees are not listed on the country-committee matrix, you may select them among your country choices.

II. Apply online!

  • Use the Register a school option from the Registration menu. If you have any questions, contact schools@ssuns.org.

III. Send your payment by mail.

  • Calculate the registration fees (insert hyperlink to Payment Policies) for your delegation using the following formula:

    Delegation fee + (Number of delegates × Fee per delegate) = Total amount owed

  • Only certified or school cheques and money orders will be accepted.
  • Cheques must be payable to IRSAM Inc.
  • Cheques must be made out in US Dollars (American and International delegations) or Canadian Dollars (Canadian delegations).
  • Payment is due at the time of registration.
  • Mail your cheque to:

IV. Make hotel reservations by October 3, 2011.

  • Reservations should be faxed or e-mailed to Danny Champagne at 514-879-4717 or dchampagne@deltahotels.com. Please indicate that you are with SSUNS 2011 to receive the discount.
  • The cost per room is $198 CAD/night (Quadruple Room).

V. Make travel arrangements.

  • Keep in mind, booking earlier means better deals.

VI. Register for Saturday Morning Activities by November 3, 2011.

  • Online registration for Saturday Morning Activities begins in September!

VII. Research.

  • Country Assignments will be released by September 12, 2011. Please note that full payment must be received before country assignments can be made.
  • Make sure to regularly check your assigned committees’ pages to check for updated information. Background guides should be available by the beginning of October.
  • Research your assigned country’s specific position on the topics of your committee. Links to research the same can be found on your committee’s page.
  • The SSUNS Delegate Preparation Guide is available for your perusal, and contains valuable tips to prepare for the conference. The password can be obtained from your Faculty Advisor.
  • Keep up with current events!

VIII. Practice.

  • Complete your position papers. This year SSUNS is implementing a new system, which will allow delegates to get feedback on their position papers before submitting a final version. The submission deadline for delegates wishing to receive feedback is October 7, 2011. The final position paper deadline is November 2, 2011.
  • Hold mock debates to acquaint and familiarize delegates with the rules of parliamentary procedure.
  • After you complete your registration, you are recommended to use the guides to Position Paper writing and Parliamentary Procedures.
