World Wildlife Canada

World Wildlife Fund Canada (WWF-Canada) was founded in 1967 by Senator Alan MacNaughton, and has become one of the country's leading conservation organizations, enjoying the active support of more than 150,000 Canadians. We connect the power of a highly respected and effective global network to on-the-ground efforts across Canada, through our operations in Vancouver, Prince Rupert, St. Albert’s, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, St. John’s, and a growing presence in the Arctic.

Our mission is:

To stop the degradation of the planet's natural environment and to build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature, by:

  • conserving the world's biological diversity,
  • ensuring that the use of renewable natural resources is sustainable,
  • promoting the reduction of pollution and wasteful consumption.

Youth Challenge International

Youth Challenge International is a leading global youth development organization that promotes youth innovation to drive positive change. Building on over 20 years of experience, YCI engages youth in creating solutions to the challenges they face, incorporating youth development, volunteerism, partnership, and equity into all that we do. Volunteers work with local partners and youth on community-driven projects in three integrated programming sectors: youth leadership, youth health and youth livelihoods. YCI offers four core programs for students, groups and professionals to engage in global youth development programming.

YCI's international development programs are implemented by our local partners and volunteers in Africa and the Americas. We offer 1 to 12 week projects in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Guyana, Ghana, and Tanzania for individual volunteers who are interested in developing intercultural experience and gain specialized skills in one of YCI’s three key sectors (Youth Health, Youth Livelihoods and Youth Leadership).

YCI’s programs are a safe and unique opportunity for students to participate in youth development programming. By combining the energy and skills of youth volunteers with local youth and partners, YCI provides volunteers with the opportunity to contribute to innovative programming while developing personal and professional skills.

YAHAnet

Youth, the Arts, HIV & AIDS Network is a global virtual networking platform that connects youth groups and organizations as well as young individuals around the world and provides them with the opportunity to actively and creatively participate in the fight against HIV and AIDS using an interdisciplinary approach that combines public health, education, the arts, and technology. Through the sharing of artwork and messages in the Gallery, in the Workgroups, and in the Forum and the receiving of constructive feedback on their work, YAHAnet members can use newly-gained knowledge, strategies, and techniques from their peers to develop or improve their own activist groups and to strengthen their leadership on HIV and AIDS issues in their communities.

YAHAnet is a UNESCO-sponsored McGill University project in partnership with the University of Toronto, the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

Our goal:

By recognizing and facilitating the importance of artistic expression and the Internet in the everyday lives of youth, YAHAnet aspires to empower youth to take action in the fight against HIV and AIDS through inventive awareness efforts that are sensitive to and focused on gender inequality, sources of stigma, and rights around sexuality.

UNICEF

UNICEF is the world’s leading child-focused humanitarian and development agency. Through innovative programs and advocacy work, we secure children’s rights in virtually every country. Our global reach, unparalleled influence on policymakers, and diverse partnerships make us an instrumental force in shaping a world fit for children. The only organization named in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child as a source of expertise for governments, UNICEF has exceptional access to those whose decisions impact children’s survival and quality of life. We are the world’s advocate for children and their rights.

UNICEF is supported entirely by voluntary donations and helps all children, regardless of race, religion or politics. Undaunted by war, disaster, disease and logistical complexity, UNICEF takes on the fight for child survival wherever it leads. We reach the poorest, most vulnerable children in the world’s most inaccessible places, bringing them simple, life-saving essentials like vaccines and clean water. We’ve saved more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization.

Education Beyond Borders

Education Beyond Borders (EBB) is a non-profit NGO devoted to closing the education divide through teacher professional development and community education. EBB works primarily, but not exclusively, in developing countries, in order to build self-reliance, health, and capacity. McGill Student for Education Beyond Borders is a dedicated group of students interested in positive change through global education and collaboration. We recognize the complexity of the education divide and it is our mandate to support the greater mission of raising awareness of the issue and increasing access to quality education for all people .As an on campus chapter of EBB, we are devoted to closing this education divide and encouraging local and global collaboration through a “think globally, act locally” approach. We support student development, community education, fund raising, and awareness campaigns, in our efforts to educate both the McGill and the Montreal communities about global education and the value of collaboration.
