Arab League

Welcome to SSUNS 2019! The Arab League is a regional, multinational organization which deals with Arab interests and affairs. The Arab League's scope of influence extends from diplomatic matters to a planned joint defense force and social, economic, and cultural ties. The committee currently includes 22 members of Arab states in and around North Africa, the Horn of Africa and Arabia, as well as 4 non-Arab observers. Over the weekend, the Arab League will be discussing urgent and pertinent topics in the Arab World including: (1) The Instability in Yemen, (2) Methods for the Redevelopment of Areas Damaged by Conflict, and (3) The Emerging Governance of Bashar al Assad in Syria. It is imperative that members of this committee come together to discuss, learn from and take collection action on these topics that have tremendous impacts.

In order for everyone to enjoy a weekend of insightful debate, we ask that delegates come to each committee session well-prepared and enthusiastic to debate. The complexity of this material requires a great deal of understanding and empathy, and we have faith that you will rise to the task. We also want to emphasize the importance of respect, whether you’re speaking on the floor or writing a draft resolution. We are humans before we are delegates, and thus it is crucial that everyone respects each other, so we can have a safe and exciting weekend.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our dais. Good luck, and we’ll see you soon!
